The Breadman TR520 Breadmaker

The Breadman TR520 is an easy to use programmable breadmaker that has a lot a features for a unit in it’s price range. With it you will be able to make lots of delicious healthy breads for your family. With all the “unknown secret ingredients” in our foods today, that is not a bad thing.

The Breadman TR520 bread maker offers many of the same features that come with more expensive machines on the market. One of those features is loaf size. It will make 1, 1.5 and 2 pound loaves. This makes it nice for when you have a recipe that is designed for a specific size loaf. You don’t necessarily need to recalculate your ingredients. And as one reviewer noted, the loaves come out in a traditional horizontal shape as opposed to square.

Like many breadmakers, the TR520 has a delay timer that will delay the start of baking your bread up to 13 hours. This makes it very nice if you would like fresh hot bread for your breakfast or for your dinner when you get home from work. Add in your ingredients in advance of when you want to have your bread, activate the timer and hours later you will have nice piping hot fresh bread waiting for you!

In addition to the delay timer, this machine has a 1 hour keep warm cycle just in case you happen to get delayed yourself. That way you still get fresh bread that hasn’t gone cold.

One of the controls allows you to decide how you like your crust. The choices are:

Light- Something like a French bread crust, light and flaky.

Medium- Something like a traditional store bought bread crust.

Dark- More crunchy, but still a nice texture and probably my favorite!

While other brands and models have more functions, the Breadman TR520 does come with 8 pre programmed functions that let you make a fairly wide array of bread types. Everything from your basic white and whole wheat breads to French breads, sweet loaf and more. Included in the 8 are specialized functions the allow you to create doughs for delicious pastas, pizzas, cakes, rolls and more.

A nice feature that the Breadman does come with is a fruit and nut add in signal bell. At the correct time during the mixing process the bell will signal when you are to add in whatever fruits and nuts that you would like before the baking cycle. That is a big help if you are trying to eat better or if you have some special dietary needs.

For all you bread voyeurs out there, a window is included so that you can peek at the bread as it is being made. It is also there so that you don’t need to open the machine every few minutes to verify that the bread is being made.

Like all good bread machines, this model does come with a non stick baking pan to make removing the bread and cleanup much easier. The removable lid also helps with the cleanup.

There is a one year limited warranty. Included with the Breadman TR520 is an instruction manual, recipe book, measuring spoon, measuring cup and removable kneading paddle. The kneading paddle is attached to the electrical cord for shipping purposes and will need to be stored away.

A few things of note:

One of the biggest complaints about this automatic breadmaker by far is the printing on the display. For some reason the lettering is white on top of a yellow background. This makes it very difficult to read.

It has been pointed out that if you do not use the exact brands of ingredients that are recommended in the recipes, you will often get different results in your bread making.
