The Breadman Tr875:A Quick Look
In the on going saga of investigating automatic bread makers I came across another interesting model, the Breadman TR875 automatic bread machine.Let’s take a look.

What size Is It?
The size of a bread maker can sometimes be an issue. If you have limited room on your counter, this means you will most likely have to make room or store the bread machine somewhere else. This generally means an inconvenience to you.At what looks to be 18 inches deep by 15 inches high by 11 inches wide, the Breadman TR875 should fit in fairly well.It may be a bit smaller but it will make horizontal loaves in three sizes 1,1.5 and 2 pounds. It is Preset to 2 pound though.
But What Does It Look Like?
Unlike some other bread machines, the TR875 has a stainless steel outside. The stainless should make it easier to keep clean.
The lid is black and removes, which should make clean up easy as well. There is a window in the lid so that you can keep an eye on things. That is a nice touch!
There is an LCD or Liquid Crystal display panel on the front. It is at an angle to help reading of the display. You won’t have to stand over the machine or squat down to read it.

It Is All About Functionality.
The Breadman TR875 Bread maker machine has ten baking/mixing cycles. They are as follows:
Basic:This cycle is just what you would think it is for, regular white bread. This cycle is what you would probably use the most.
French:For making French Breads
Whole Wheat:Use this baking cycle to make your whole grain breads like whole wheat of course, but also rye, oats and bran. There is a rest period that allows grains to soak up liquids which helps to soften them.
Sweet Bread:You would use this cycle for breads or recipes that have juice or fruit in them. The temperature is reduced to help prevent burning of your ingredients.Fruitcakes or cinnamon breads would be examples of what you could use this cycle for.
Super Rapid:Like Basic except faster(about 1.5 hours instead of 3 hours) and hotter. This would cut down on the actual time for making the bread.
Dough:In this cycle you can mix dough for baked goods that you would finish by hand and bake separately like dinner rolls or sticky buns or pizza dough.
Pasta:This cycle would be used for making pie crust dough, cookie dough, pasta and dumplings.
Gluten Free:Not everyone can tolerate gluten in their bread. This cycle will allow you to make your own gluten free breads.
Jam:This cycle is interesting in that you can actually make jam out of you favorite fruits. The Tr875 Breadman will mix and heat the ingredients for making jam.Sweet!
Bake:This cycle is all about baking. There is no Kneading involved. You can even use pre-made dough.
How About The Crust?
Yes,just like many other automatic bread making machines, the Breadman bread maker has three crust color settings.Whether you like light, medium or dark it can accommodate your tastes. It is preset to Medium.
Anything Else?
There is an indicator “beep” to let you know when to add in your favorite nuts, fruits or other special ingredients. This is handy for making recipes your own,or for making recipes healthier.
There is a fifteen hour timer which is nice because it gives you a little more flexibility when it comes to the timing of the baking.Just be aware that like any bread maker, you do not want to use the timer function if your recipe contains ingredients like milk or eggs that will spoil before mixing.
In case you experience short power outages in your area there is a seven minute power failure backup feature. What that means is that if the power goes off for seven minutes or less the bread maker will come back on where it stopped. You won’t have to start from scratch. But if the power is off for longer than seven minutes you will.
How Much Should You Expect To Pay?
The list price is about $130.Right now I have seen it listed for $98.09 which is a savings of $31.90.

Complaints?
There have been some complaints of noise and vibration, but then again there have been complaints that the bread maker is too quiet. Many people have stated that they had to peak in the window to make sure that it was running.
While the sides don’t get hot while baking, the bottom does and you should take precautions.Just a suggestion, but you may want to place the bread machine on a cutting board or other non flammable surface before using.
There have been some complaints of a skunky smell while using the machine. This may come from people not running the Breadman TR875 through a Super Rapid cycle empty before using it to make bread. When in doubt read the manual.
